Adirondack Chairs

It’s getting cooler out and that’s when we start thinking about larger projects that may be needed for Spring. Boardwalk DIY Studio is working with local fence companies to offer our first season of adirondack chairs (early Spring).

We mill all of the pieces at our shop in Andover, MN. The cedar is sourced from area fence companies - from their stock that they cannot use on projects. This means that we get a lot of rough looking 2x4’s, 4x4’s and 6x6’s that we need to cut down and mill to proper dimensions BEFORE we can start shaping all the pieces.

Ripping 6x6 cedar posts to 1x6 boards. After this, off to the thickness planer.

All year long, I am busy in the wood shop - culling, cutting, ripping and shaping all the pieces for our projects. It’s a long and dirty process - but I feel this is what sets Boardwalk DIY Studio apart from other places. At Boardwalk - we perform the steps with all of the large power tools - so all you need to do is relax, have fun and assemble your finished piece.

I will update this post as we get further into the process. Look for classes being offered as early as February 2019.
